Excellent compilation of data, thanks!
What I am missing however is an indication of Manuka's superiority versus regular organic honey.
Here in Germany, honey ointments are used to heal tricky skin infections on a regular basis. My 85-year old mother, for instance, had a wound on her shin that just refused to close for several weeks. Switching to a honey-based therapy did the trick in just four days.
Just beware that there are tons of imitation honey on the market. Malefactors are getting better at imitating the natural fragrances in honey, and they are now even pretty good at tricking laboratory tests. So, it's best to buy your honey from a local beekeeper -- even conscientious supermarket chains don't always know what it is they're selling.
